It is with great sadness to announce the passing of a beautiful soul, Margaret Loreen Gummeson. She left our world on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, peacefully, with family beside her, which is exactly the way she would’ve wanted it. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; parents, Percy and Ethel; brothers, Warren and Don; as well as her son, Doug. Loreen’s fondest memory is of her horse Nell, who she would ride back-and-forth to school. She decided to become a teacher and taught for 18 years in various schools, and then 18 years in her own nursery school in the basement of their home, which was called The South Hill Play School. The children were her light in the world. She had a special gift to offer them, by teaching with such a gentle nature. She always said kneel down to the children and get at their level to talk to them, which many of us follow to this date. Families would bring all of their kids to her, even reserving a spot once they were expecting another child. Loreen created Moose Jaw Fanfare, which was a nonprofit organization that would welcome newcomers to the city. Loreen and Frank also created the South of the Bridges days and they had so much fun planning it each year. It brought many people out and lots of friendships were made. They were also involved in the Cardiac support group where they enjoyed talking with other people who had similar experiences. However, their favourite group was the camping club, which they enjoyed to no end. It was the highlight of their year to go camping, and as a family, we did a lot of it. Loreen spent her last years in Extendicare, which is now called Moose Jaw Special Care Home. The staff took care of her beyond what any of us expected, loving her as if she was their own blood. We never had to worry if we hadn’t been there in a while to visit, because we knew she was well taken care of. Loreen wanted her family to rejoice her life on her special day, those being her daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Ray) and children: Lana, Sharla (Rod) and children Victoria, Noah, Liam, Warren, Jenna, Andrew, Isaac, and Samuel, Carley (Micah) and children Spencer, Zachary, Malakai, and Isabella; son, Elmer (Denise) and children Kristen (Leif) and Dylan; daughter, Caron (Rick), and children Cayla (Dakin) and children Wilson, and Jacob, Rachell (David) and their fur child, Ozzy, Abby and child Elsie; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 10th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Lana Gummeson will officiate and interment will take place in Cabri, SK at a later date.
