1924 - 2023
It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Jack Grosnick announce his passing away peacefully in his home at the age of 98 years.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Diana Varadi, Bonnie (Ivan) Lust and Gloria (Pastor Stanley) Beerman. Six grandchildren: Kim (Stuart) Henderson, Dorian (Kristy) Lust, Vanessa (Pastor Liviu) Thilihoi, Sherisa (Broc) Finkbiner, Bruce (Katie) Beerman, and Aaron Beerman. Seven great grandchildren: Chaise and Kaitlin Henderson, Nathan, Ellyanna and Alex Tilihoi, and Emmarie and Silas Finkbiner.
He is also survived by his close friend and nephew Don (Glenys)Grosnick, niece Cheryl Owen, Debbie (Rod) Bauch, Murielle (Joe) Sherstabetoff, and nephew Murray (Karen) Ruben as well as many other extended family and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Ella-Jean McKerricher, his parents, Robert and Martha Grosnick, brothers Otto, Ansel, Arnold and Harold and sister Leona.
Jack was a man of courage and integrity, had a kind thoughtful heart and a great sense of humor. He was genuinely interested in others so loved to visit. He loved history, hockey, nature walks, a good comedy and sharing family photos. He especially loved to support and at times physically assist with mission projects in various places. He touched many lives with his caring and charitable contributions to many causes. His ardent desire, right until his final days, was that the truth of God’s amazing love and the soon coming of Jesus be shared to all far and near.
Jack was born in Moose Jaw to loving and hard-working parents, Robert and Martha Grosnick. He was raised and worked on the family homestead in the Tilney area and attended Tilney school and church. He later graduated from Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw.
In 1947 Jack married Ella-Jean McKerricher and continued to farm the homestead and raise three daughters before building a new house in 1964 where they successfully continued farming until 2002. They semi-retired to Victoria, BC in the eighties until he retired to the farm in 2012 after the death of his beloved Jean.
The family gives special thanks to Benji (Darry) Davis and Glen (Betty)Richardson for their loving care and compassion during the last years of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 409 Oxford St W., Moose Jaw on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
