It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Edwin (Edgy) George Goertzen of Moose Jaw on Saturday June 29, 2019 at 60 years of age.
Ed was born on September 16, 1958 to Gerry and Minnie (Weibe) Goertzen in Steinbach, MB. He had many great memories of growing up there with his parents, brothers and sisters. His fondest memory was being with his Dad at the lumber camp in northern Manitoba. He spent a few years working in different areas in Canada until settling in Moose Jaw in the 80’s and worked at Canada Packers then Seals Restoration along with volunteering many years with the Elks. He also loved his darts and playing in many leagues and tournaments. Ed was a great fan of the Edmonton Eskimos and loved to tell people at every chance he could. Ed had a huge heart and would willingly help anyone without question touching many lives with his kindness. He will be greatly missed. Ed is predeceased by his father, Gerald Goertzen.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Nancy; mother Minnie; brothers Jim (Bonnie) Goertzen, Gerry (Cindy) Goertzen, Glen (Mona) Goertzen, Tony (Rene) Goertzen; sisters Wanda (Dan) Bedell and Monica Goertzen as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion Lounge, 268 High St W, Moose Jaw, SK on Thursday July 11, 2019 at 2:00PM. Janice Cavan will MC the celebration. Memorialization will take place at Sunset Cemetery at a later date. For those so wishing donations in Ed’s memory may be directed to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.
