ARNOLD ERIC GIDDINGS

April 14th, 1937 – May 2nd, 2025

The family of Arnold Giddings sadly announces his peaceful passing in the early hours of Friday, May 2nd, 2025.

Arnold was born in Humbolt, SK on April 14th, 1937, to Hedley and Pearl Giddings. He was raised on a farm in the Plunket and Viscount area of Saskatchewan and attended a rural school called Pilot Grove. 

Arnold’s family moved to Moose Jaw in 1954, where he continued his education with an interest in autobody, mechanics, maintenance, and construction. During this time, Arnold met Olga Klimuk, a psychiatric nursing student, and future wife. Arnold and Olga married in 1958, and three children followed: Lynne, Glenn, and Kevin.

Arnold started a long-term career with Canada Agriculture (PFRA) Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration in 1958 and enjoyed a long and rewarding career of 42 years that offered him many opportunities.

Arnold dedicated himself to numerous community focused endeavours, striving to create a lasting legacy that would positively impact the lives of those around him and endure for generations to come. He was an active member in St. Andrews United Church, Rotary, Parks and Recreation, Trans Canada Trails Association, Wakamow Valley Authority, Ducks Unlimited, and served in many capacities in these positions. Arnold also enjoyed sports, either actively participating in or watching curling, hockey, and baseball.

Arnold continued his life journey with the addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Olga supported and cheered on the grandchildren whenever possible.

He was predeceased by his wife, Olga (October 31st, 2024); parents, Hedley and Pearl Giddings; Hedley’s second wife, Iris Giddings; sibling, Leo Giddings; and grandchildren, Malisa Lawson and Chad Lawson. Arnold is survived by his brother, Victor Giddings; children: Lynne (David) Lawson, Glenn (Rita), and Kevin (Lynne); grandchildren: Erin (Adam) Boyce, Joshua (Tara) Giroux, Erika Gebhart, Shannon (Wayne) Smith, Hana (Matt) Giddings, and Bryn Giddings; great-grandchildren: David and Gracey Boyce, Jake, Macy, and Rily Giroux, Ellie and Oswald Smith; sister-in-law, Helen Klimuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Deacon Arleen Champion will officiate and a private family interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Arnold’s name may be made to the Wakamow Valley Authority, P.O.
