The family of John Fischer is saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 in Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 95 years.

John was born on September 12th, 1928 in Gyula, Hungary but moved to Moose Jaw in 1958. He worked briefly at Valley Centre, and then began his career in 1960 as an Orderly at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on the Psychiatric Wing, working there until his retirement. At the age of 36, John married Eileen Cora Klein in the spring of 1964 and they were married for 59 years. Together they had one son, John Jr. John also had three stepchildren with Eileen, Barb, Rick, and Sherrie Klein. 

John’s hobbies were reading, word puzzles, watching sports, and daily coffee outings to Safeway to meet with friends.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Eileen; parents, Frank and Judy; and sister, Margaret. John leaves to mourn, his children: Barb (Alvin), Rick, Sherrie (Don), and John (Christine); grandchildren: Ryan (Gina), Jordan (Kristin), Tanya (Damian), Terry, Allison (Jon), Andrea (Curtis), Kada, Keian, and Grace (Brayden); and great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Owen, Kayla, Bryll, Beck, Edwin, Devlynn, Charlie, Seth, Alex, Slater, and Lainey. John had a very close relationship with two nieces, Judy (Peter) Lantos of Budapest, Hungary and Paulette Campbell of Regina, SK.

The family would like to thank Dr. G.B. Vanheerden for his care and kindness to our Papa over the years. To all the staff at Pioneer Lodge, thank you for making Dad’s stay feel like home.
