EWEN

EWEN, Georgina (Nee: HAY). On July 23, 2020 at the age of 92 years, we said goodbye to our beloved Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma, Georgina Ewen. Georgina was born in Riverhurst on December 25, 1927, the youngest of three daughters. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Helen Hay; husband, Hugh John Ewen (2008) and sisters, Isabella and Helen. Georgina was raised on the family farm south of Riverhurst and attended Emsdale School. Later she met and married Jack Ewen on December 8, 1947. Together they farmed and raised their four children. Georgina loved the farm life, gardening, but especially harvest time when she was busy hauling grain from the combine and making meals. You never wanted to get in her way when it was time to shovel grain. Upon retiring from the farm Jack and Georgina moved into Riverhurst to a new home they built. There they enjoyed many evenings playing cards with family and friends. Georgina was well known for her quick witted tongue and love of baking, particularly her oatmeal cookies and Grandma Buns. As Georgina’s health began to fail, she moved to Iver Main Place in Central Butte in 2019. Georgina will be lovingly remembered by her children: Robert (Colleen) Ewen, Doreen (Ben) Penner, Gary (Dawn) Ewen and Heather (Ed) Hatley; sister-in-law, Frieda Ewen and brother-in-law, Gordon Bowman; grandchildren: Brent (Jamie), Kendra (James), Dennis (Donna), Kevin (Deb), Brett (Lindsay), Jeff (Riley), Kris (Mel), Krista (J.P), Ryan (Heather) and Blaine (Melyssa); great grandchildren: Jarod, Kirk, Ethan, Carter, Colby, Traylen, Taylor, Lyla, Eli, Harper, Maëlle, Kelsey, Treyven, Daavy and Hailey. A Private Family Service to honour Georgina will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Georgina’s name may be made to Central Butte Iver Main Place, Box 550, Central Butte, SK SOH 0T0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com

family tree
that says
Grieve not for me
Remember the BEST TIMES
the laughter, the song
the good life I lived while I was STRONG.”
