Gwendolene Alberta Dale

Mrs. Gwendolene Alberta Dale (née King) of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the age of 92. Gwen was born to parents Ezra and Emma King on Feburary 23, 1928 in Big Beaver, SK. She grew up as the youngest of nine. On November 14, 1946 she married John Dale in Scobey, Montana. They were married for 59 years. They had two children and, after a brief stint at farming, they moved to Moose Jaw in 1958. Once both children were in school, Gwen worked at Canaday Apparel. After retirement, Gwen and John moved to Marquis, SK where they tended a large garden together and shared the excess with the community. In the 90's, Gwen's interest in writing started to blossom. She had quite a knack for it. Gwen was a poet, interviewer, and storyteller. She wrote freelance for the Wood River Free Press. After 18 years, they moved back to Moose Jaw. Gwen is survived by her son, Duane Dale (Shelly); her brother, Wayne "Budd" King; five grandchildren Robin Wallin (Ray), Rhonda Paradon (Kelly), John Dale (Megan), Kyla Hudson (Blair), Blair Dale; ten great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, John Dale; her daughter, Joan Wright (Norman); her sisters, Grace, and Laura; her brothers, Arnold, Martin, Elmer, Lorne, and Walter; and her great-grandson Cody Paradon. Gwen was an incredibly positive soul. She loved her family dearly and will be missed. A Celebration of Gwen's Life will be held at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw, in the Spring, with details to be announced. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gwen’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank, 305 Fairford St W, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 1V8.
