Lillian Dahlman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Laura Dahlman on June 3, 2020 at the age of 91. Born on the farm north of Herbert, SK to Paul and Matilda Wilzer, she was the youngest of 8 daughters. Lil is predeceased by her parents Paul and Matilda, 7 sisters, husband Edward Emil, son Darrin, son-in-law Bill and daughter-in-law Frances. She is survived by her daughter Glenda (Dave) Loustel, sons Paul and Ed (Crystal); grandchildren Michelle, Brad, Kris, Danielle, Paula, Ashley, Alex, and Kristen and 10 great-grandchildren. Lil’s younger days were spent with school, helping with the large garden, farm chores and playing baseball. In 1950 she married Emil Dahlman and moved to his family grain and cattle farm north of Tuxford, SK on top of the hills of Buffalo Pound Lake. This is where she became a full-time farmers wife, raising four free range children along with the chickens, ducks and geese, cooking, gardening and being a good farmhand when needed. They retired from the farm in 1988 at which time they moved to Moose Jaw. Her hobbies included travelling, shuffleboard, cards, flower arranging, crocheting, crafting, and watching the Blue Jays baseball and curling on TV. She also liked watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, school plays and doing the girls hair for their dance recitals. Her favourite activity was baking and testing out new cookie recipes on them. The family would like to thank Dr Geyer, Dr Hugo and the staff of Extendicare Moose Jaw for their kindness and compassionate care. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family Graveside Service will be held with Pastor Doug Shepherd officiating. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association c/o Diabetes Canada, 1300-522 University Ave, Toronto, ON, M5G 2R5.
