CLARK, Lorraine Mary (nee Day)

It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Mary Clark announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, July 10th, 2021, at the age of 72. Every year, Lorraine eagerly awaited the opening of nurseries to buy flowers. She would make countless trips as it was one of her favourite things to do. She loved summer and would spend hours outside rearranging her flowerpots and soaking up the sun. Lorraine and Lindsay enjoyed their many winter vacations together. Lorraine could, on a whim, go see her travel agent, book a trip, and leave the very next day. They loved the short flights to Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican, and Cuba where you could fly and be there the same day. Lorraine even booked a surprise trip to Vegas for Lindsay’s 65th birthday and kept it a secret for a month. Lindsay thought he was going for supper with Barry and Deborah in Regina. Little did Lindsay known that the four of them were on their way to the airport. Lorraine and Lindsay did take a couple longer vacations. They flew to Malaysia to visit her brother and sister-in-law and to Australia, twice to visit Lindsay’s brother. Get-togethers with family and friends was a huge part of Lorraine’s life. Sunday suppers were very important, and her mom and mother-in-law were always part of that. The afternoon was spent visiting and followed by an amazing supper. She enjoyed cooking and being the hostess for family events over the years and everyone was welcome. Lorraine was very close to her mom (Molly) and was heartbroken when she passed away. Lorraine made many friends through work that she talked about often. She looked forward to the group of girls she would meet for lunch, Barb, Doreen, Karen, Joanne, and Terry. She loved their toast they always made when they raised their glasses! Lorraine cherished her lifelong friends, Jan, Dianne, and Robbie. When they got together it was just like old times. Many wonderful memories were created with the amazing friendship that developed between The B’s, The C’s and The J’s over the years! Christmas was one of their favourites. Every year the families picked a day and would go to each of the three homes and decorate their Christmas tree. This tradition went on for 45 years without missing a single year except 2020 due to Covid. The three families celebrated many events: birthdays, anniversaries, and New Years. But they didn’t need an event to celebrate. They just loved to get together! Lorraine loved work and these wonderful opportunities are where she met many friends. Lorraine worked as a car hop at Dog’ n’ Suds, she worked at a hair salon and a doctor’s office. She was assistant to the MP and assistant to the MLA. Finally, Lorraine was Senior Executive Assistance at Water Security when she then retired in 2015. Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Lindsay; children, Stephen Clark, Shannon (Leigh) Pethick, Joanna (Shane) Sorenson; grandchildren, Riley (Willie), Tyler, Ava, Chloe, Ella and Harrison; great- grandchildren, Savannah, Devin and Milo; brothers, Terry (Wendi) Day, Barry (Deborah) Day and sister-in-law, Kathy Day and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her mom and dad, Mary (Molly) and Royston Day and her brother, Brian Day. At Lorraine’s request, there will not be a funeral service. A private family graveside celebration will take place at Rosedale Cemetery in August. Flowers and gifts are gratefully declined. Donations in Lorraine’s name can be made to St. Andrew’s Church, 60 Athabasca St. E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 0X5. In living memory of Lorraine, a memorial planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.jonesparkview.com (Obituaries)
