It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Josephine Iola Elizabeth Bjolverud on July 23, 2023, just short of her 103rd birthday. She was born on a farm in the Chamberlain District. She received her education at Sheppard School. She was diagnosed with TB in November 1941, and she spent a year at Providence Hospital and one year at Fort San where she stayed on and worked in the sewing room for seven years. She married Ken Bjolverud on June 21, 1952. Ken was an iron worker so together they travelled across Canada with Ken’s work. In 1958 they began a family with the birth of their daughter Gail and then a son Terry in 1961. They travelled until the kids started school and then they travelled in the summers while the kids were out of school. She loved working outside in her garden tending to her flowers and vegetables. Her family and home were most important to her. In 1984 a grandson David came along and was the apple of her eye. Predeceased by husband Ken (2000); son Terry (2001); parents Joseph and Elizabeth; sisters Violet, Jean, and Reta; brother Ross; sister in laws Beulah and Stella; brother in laws Elvin and Clinton. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Gail; grandson David; great grandchildren Cohen, Bailey, and Grayson; many nieces, nephews and special friends who were like family, Dale and Charlotte Dolter and their boys Kerry and Dion. Our heartfelt thank you to the staff of Prairie View Wing at Pioneer Lodge for their love, compassion and care for Iola always helping her feel she was home after moving there five days prior to the Covid lockdown. We will be forever grateful. A Celebration of Iola’s life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 1:00PM at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W., Moose Jaw. Reverend Dave Moore will officiate. Iola will be laid to rest beside her husband Ken at Rosedale Cemetery. For those wishing memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association, or Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Moose Jaw Seniors. In living memory of Iola, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries). Dayna Chamberlain - Funeral Director
