ROBERT (BOB) DOUGLAS BERRY

January 21st, 1944 – January 21st, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, husband, and grandfather, Robert (Bob) Douglas Berry, on Sunday, January 21st, 2024, his 80th birthday, with his family by his side after a three-month hospital stay.

Bob was born at the Central Butte Union Hospital to Wilfred and Gladys (née: McGillivray) Berry on January 21st, 1944. He was the first of five children and grew up on the family farm, helping his dad and uncles, eventually taking over the farm in later years.

On July 8th, 1972, Bob married the love of his life, Sharen Lindquist of Aquadell, SK at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Central Butte, SK. Together they had three children: Crystal Lynne, Dawn Michelle, and Douglas Edward.

Bob was very involved with 4-H, the Fair Board, and Coteau Range Charolais Association. His interest in cars was extraordinary, he could look at a vehicle and know exactly what make, model, and year it was.

In 1990, Bob bought his Freightliner (The Golden Lady) and formed his company with Sharen, R&S Bulk Transfer, and hauled grain for the local farmers for many years. After Bob retired from farming, he kept his class 1A, doing what he loved, driving truck for Mackow Farms, and took much pride in maintaining his yard, trading his big John Deere equipment for little John Deere equipment.

Bob’s love for his children, grandchildren, and pets was undeniable. He loved having coffee and chats with his friends at the café. Even to his last moments, he was all about his coffee.

He was predeceased by his father, Wilfred in 1996; mother, Gladys in 2006; brother-in-law, Don Heie in 1991; great-nephew, Ole Heie in 2021; numerous uncles and aunts; as well as his cherished puppies, Molly and Oscar. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Sharen; children: Crystal, Dawn, and Douglas (Melissa); grandchildren: Cody and Ashley Westermann, and Iris, Isaac, and Ian Berry; sisters: Jean Heie, Marge (Dwight) Bathgate, Judy (Jan) Madsen, and Myrna (George) Willard; aunts: Dona O’Callahan, Beatrice Buchanan, and Judy Wunsch; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special thank you goes to the care and compassion of the clinic in Central Butte, as well as the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital and the Regina General Hospital, especially the MICU and Palliative Care floor who sang Happy Birthday to him.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Central Butte United Church. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will take place in the Moose Jaw Funeral Home Columbarium. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the Central Butte Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
