ASHBY
1943-2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ray William Ashby. He passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital with family by his side. Ray was born December 6th, 1943 in Montreal, QU where he was later adopted with his two sisters, Margaret and Iris into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ashby. Ray grew up in Quebec and parts of Ontario. In 2003 Ray relocated to Moose Jaw, SK. with his family.

From a young age he had a love for working on or with vehicles such as pumping gas, mechanic work, auto body work and most recently at a car wash - the Auto Spa. In his free time, Ray enjoyed watching his daughter train and compete in gymnastics, watch gymnastics on tv, play cards, keep up with the latest politics and tell stories from his past to anyone who would listen. Working on his two vehicles, tactor and snowplow became a much enjoyed hobby; “Gotta keep em’ in good shape” he’d say.

Ray is predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ashby; sisters, Iris and Margret and son Michael. He leaves to remember him, his best friend, Sharla Ashby; sons Kim and Joey; daughters, Chantal (Mark), Natasha (John), Leah (Kayle) and grand daughter Zoey. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends that became family.

Ray was a brave, strong, loving and compassionate man right down to his last moments. His voice, wise words, and cheerful humour will forever be missed and remembered. His cheerful calls to friends and family near and far leave us with many happy, silly memories. I invite everyone to remember his happiness, love and jokes in times of pain and grief. Heaven welcomed a good one the night he gained his wings. Give heaven a little hell until we meet again.

A small celebration of life for Ray will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray’s name may be made to Gymtastiks of Moose Jaw 24 Chester Road Suite 2, Moose Jaw SK. S6J 1M2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Cara Ashworth Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
