Reyna scores 6th goal, US reaches CONCACAF Under-17 final

BRADENTON, Fla. — Gio Reyna scored on a free kick for his sixth goal of the tournament, and the United States beat Canada 4-0 Tuesday night to reach the final of the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship. Bryang Kayo put the U.S. ahead in the 47th minute.

Bryang Kayo put the U.S. ahead in the 47th minute. Reyna, a son of former U.S. national team captain Claudio Reyna, was fouled by Simon Colyn just outside the penalty area and converted his free kick in the 63rd.

Ricardo Pepi added goals in the 78th and 82nd minutes, giving him three goals in the tournament. Gianluca Busio assisted on three goals.

The Americans play Mexico in Thursday's final. El Tri beat Haiti 1-0 in Thursday's other semifinal on a 49th-minute goal by Efraín Álvarez of Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy.

By defeating Panama in a quarterfinal last weekend, the U.S. qualified for the Under-17 World Cup tournament in Brazil from Oct. 5-27.
