Four NFL playoff contests dominate betting action on Proline

Once again, the NFL dominated betting action on Proline last week.

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., the four NFL playoff contests were the top events. The Toronto Maple Leafs' 5-4 overtime victory over the Florida Panthers on Jan. 17 took the final spot among the top-five contests.

The others, in order, were: The San Francisco Giants versus the Dallas Cowboys; the Buffalo Bills versus the Cincinnati Bengals; the Jacksonville Jaguars versus the Kansas City Chiefs; and New York Giants versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs past the Jaguars 27-20 on Saturday despite suffering a high ankle sprain that forced him to briefly leave the game. Seventy-eight per cent of bettors had Kansas City winning but just 32 per cent picked Jacksonville to keep the score within a touchdown.

And 35 per cent of clients had the total under 52.5 points.

Some 57 per cent of bettors had Philadelphia winning its game against the Giants (it won 38-7 on Saturday) while only 28 per cent took the Eagles minus-9.5 points. And 38 per cent of participants predicted the total under 48.5 points.

Cincinnati dispatched Buffalo 27-10 on Sunday with 63 per cent of bettors taking the Bengals plus-6.5 points. However, just 41 per cent had them winning the game outright.

Just 26 per cent took the under 49.5 points.

San Francisco dispatched Dallas 19-12 on Sunday as 59 per cent of bettors had the 49ers winning the game and 62 per cent predicted they'd cover the minus-3.5 spread. Only 23 per cent of participants successfully predicted the under 46.5 points.

On Saturday night, the Maple Leafs dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Montreal Canadiens, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Just 22 per cent of bettors picked the Habs to win while 46 per cent had them plus-two goals and 38 per cent had the total under 6.5 goals.

The Toronto Raptors defeated New York 125-116 on Sunday, earning their first win in four games while handing the Knicks a fourth straight loss. Only 52 per cent of bettors picked the Raptors to win but 82 per cent had the total over of 224.5 points.

A Proline digital participant put down $100 on a five-pick NBA parlay that paid out $18,530. Another retail customer placed a $55 bet on an eight-leg soccer parlay that returned $10,115 while one bettor put $20 down on a six-pick soccer parlay that paid $8,339
