Yukon RCMP officer charged with using excessive force

WHITEHORSE — An RCMP officer in Yukon has been accused of using excessive force when lodging a prisoner in police cells in Whitehorse. Const.

WHITEHORSE — An RCMP officer in Yukon has been accused of using excessive force when lodging a prisoner in police cells in Whitehorse. 

Const. Charles Conway with the Carcross RCMP was charged with one count of assault late last week in relation to an incident which occurred in January 2022.

A criminal investigation was conducted by the Northwest Territories RCMP. 

The British Columbia Public Prosecution Service of Canada decided to lay a criminal charge based on the results. 

Conway has been reassigned to administrative duties. 

He is scheduled to appear in territorial court on October 7.
