The all but inevitable has happened for the Western Canadian Baseball League.

The WCBL announced late Wednesday night that after a board of governors meeting, the decision was made to officially cancel the 2020 season, meaning the Moose Jaw Miller Express won’t be taking the field at Ross Wells Park this year.

“Following the federal, provincial and municipal health guidelines and medical recommendations, the league determined it would be impossible to guarantee the safety of the players, coaches, umpires, host families, staff, volunteers and fans during the COVID-19 pandemic situation to the extent required by the authorities,” the WCBL said in a press release.
