Warriors add Wright from Pats in exchange for Denomie

Trade sees Warriors get younger as 19-year-old Denomie returns home in deal for 18-year-old Wright
The young Moose Jaw Warriors have become a bit younger still after their most recent deal.

The Warriors announced that they had acquired 18-year-old Garrett Wright from the Regina Pats in exchange for 19-year-old Carson Denomie on Monday afternoon in a trade of forwards between the two rivals.

“We are pleased to add Garrett Wright to our hockey club,” said Warriors general manager Alan Millar in a press release. “As an 18-year-old he fits in well with what we are building here and we believe he has very good upside in his game. Garrett is a solid player with good skills. I'd also like to thank Carson Denomie on his time with our team and wish him the best.”

Wright -- a 6-foot-1, 182-pound left wing from Mesa, Arizona – has seven assists in 17 games with the Pats this season. He had seven goals and 11 points in 63 games in 2018-19 as a 17-year-old.

The trade marks a homecoming for Denomie, who hails from Regina and played his entire minor hockey career in the Queen City. He had five goals and 13 points for the Warriors in 19 games this season after scoring eight goals and 17 points in 67 games last season.

The Warriors are back in action this weekend when they travel to Medicine Hat on Friday before hosting the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place.
