The Moose Jaw AAA Warriors have had a great season thus far and that has not gone unnoticed.

The Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League has released its list of award winners for the 2019-20 season, and there are several members of the Warriors honoured.

First, Trevor Weisgerber has received the Joe Bloski Coach of the Year Award. Weisgerber helped guide the team to a 30-13-1-0 record this season.

Next, goaltender Chase Coward was named to the league’s First All-Star Team. Teammates Wyatt Wilson (defence), Connor McGrath (forward), and Atley Calvert (forward) were named to the Second All-Star Team.

As another Moose Jaw connection, former Warrior Cody Beach was named the SMAAHL Official of the Year. Meanwhile, Brett Mirwald of the Saskatoon Blazers was named Goaltec Goalie MVP. Mirwald was drafted by the Moose Jaw Warriors in the seventh round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, 154th overall.

There is no time to rest for the AAA Warriors; the team begins their playoff drive against the Notre Dame Hounds on Thursday. The game will be held at Mosaic Place. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
