Now, they’re about to receive a host of powerhouse reinforcements.
A trio of National Hockey League teams announced roster cutdowns this past weekend, and as a result, team captain Daemon Hunt, forward Ryder Korczak and defenceman Cole Jordan are all en route back to Moose Jaw.
Hunt, 19, was in Minnesota Wild training camp and was one of six players returned to their respective junior teams, including Winnipeg Ice defenceman Carson Lambos, on Sunday. The Wild are now at 46 players on their roster.
Korczak, 18, was skating in New York Rangers camp and was among five players returned to junior Sunday, including Red Deer Rebels captain Jayden Grubbe. Among the 47 players remaining in Rangers camp is former Warriors standout Dryden Hunt.
Jordan, 18, was among six players sent to junior by the Calgary Flames on Saturday prior to their preseason opener against Edmonton. Calgary is now at 51 players.
Only two players on the Warriors roster remain in NHL camps: Slovakian import Martin Rysavy, who was part of the Columbus Blue Jackets undefeated run through the Traverse City pre-season prospects tournament; and defenceman Max Wanner, who went straight into Edmonton Oilers main training camp.
Both are expected to be assigned to Moose Jaw in the next week, meaning the Warriors will likely have their full roster for their opening day match-up against the Saskatoon Blades.
