Novice Mustangs defeat Novice Mustangs

Yep, that headline is right: Novice Mustangs White battle to 10-9 win over Novice Mustangs Red
Well, someone had to win and someone had to lose. Such is the problem when you have so many players in your organization that you have to form two teams in the same league -- and either team is perfectly capable of winning a championship.

The Moose Jaw Novice Mustangs White built an early lead and held on for dear life in the late stages to take a 10-9 win over the Novice Mustangs Red in South Saskatchewan Lacrosse League action at Mosaic Place on Wednesday.

Caiden Arnott scored seven goals as the Mutangs White built a 5-2 lead in the first period and led 9-5 through two, only to see the Mustangs Red really with four goals in the final 12:14 of the game to make things interesting down the stretch.

After Arnott scored his final goal of the contest to put his team head 10-7 with 8:48 remaining on the clock, Kashton Smith scored his fourth for the Mustangs Red with 7:00 to play before Aiden McGillvray pulled his team within one with 37 seconds remaining.

Luke Turner added three goals for the Mustangs White.

Hayden Nidesh scored two for the Mustangs Red, while Cooper Fulton and Slade Tremblay added their other markers.

Both teams are back in action Saturday as the Mustangs Red face the Estevan Voltz at 12 p.m. and Mustangs White take on Estevan at 2 p.m. Both games are at the Kinsmen Arena.
