Langan scores 50th as Warriors fall in Saskatoon

Tribe overager picks up pair of goals to hit milestone for first time in WHL career

A milestone weekend for the Moose Jaw Warriors took another step in a positive direction as leading scorer Tristin Langan scored his 49th and 50th goals of the season in a 5-3 loss to the Saskatoon Blades in Saskatoon on Sunday.

Langan scored his 49th goal with 1:53 remaining in the first period and then picked up his 50th with 12:23 gone in the second. The showing gives the Warriors’ leading scorer 50 goals and 106 points on the season.

Langan’s success didn’t come with the kind of result the team was hoping for, as the Warriors were unable to make a 3-1 second-period lead stand.

Daemon Hunt scored the Warriors’ other goal in the first period as they came out of the opening frame leading 2-0.

Max Gerlach got one back for the Blades midway through the second, and after Langan’s milestone marker, saw his team pour on the pressure on their way to scoring four straight goals. Gary Haden had two of those markers, while Gerlach added the game winner 5:24 into the third. Dawson Davidson had their other goal.

Brodan Salmond made 35 saves before giving way to Adam Evanoff in the third period. Evanoff made 10 stops the rest of the way; the Warriors fired 24 at the Blades’ Nolan Maier.

The Warriors are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Brandon for their final match-up of the season with the Wheat Kings.
