The Moose Jaw Warriors' Daemon Hunt will soon be wearing the Maple Leaf on his chest.

Hunt is among the 22 players named to Hockey Canada’s roster for the upcoming Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The roster was finalized on Tuesday after a five-day selection camp in Calgary.

Hunt is one of nine WHL players on the team. He has previously played for Canada at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2018 and at the World U-18 Championship earlier this spring.

He had seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 57 games with the Warriors in 2018-19.

Canada has dominated the tournament’s history. Team Canada goes into the tournament as defending champions. Canada has won gold 22 times in 28 years, along with two silver medals and one bronze.

The under-18 tournament will be held August 5-10 in Breclav and Piestany, Czech Republic. All Team Canada tournament games will be broadcast by TSN.
