The Hockey Harvest Lottery is getting closer and closer to the final deadline, and based on how things have gone so far, someone in the province is in for a very merry Christmas, indeed.

The 50/50 draw currently crossed the $300,000 mark on Thursday afternoon, meaning if the draw were made today, the winner would take home over $150,000. And right on time for the holidays, with ticket sales closing on Sunday, Dec. 20 at one minute before midnight and the draw being made on 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21 in Saskatoon.

The lottery is being held to benefit the player education funds of all five Western Hockey League teams in Saskatchewan -- the Moose Jaw Warriors, Swift Current Broncos, Regina Pats, Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders. Teams will evenly split proceeds from the draw, which would work out over $30,000 per team as of right now.

Last year, the Moose Jaw Warriors spent $98,501.43 on player scholarships to post-secondary institutions all over Canada and the United States. The Warriors education fund balance currently sits at $154,167.92.

Former Warriors Zach Sawchenko and Chris Twerdun were the latest to offer their support to the program on social media, sending messages via Twitter to help boost ticket sales.

Tickets are currently available for purchase online to anyone over the age of 19 that is physically in the province of Saskatchewan at the time of purchase, regardless of their home residence.Ticket price options are listed below:

  • 1 ticket for $20
  • 5 tickets for $50
  • 20 tickets for $100
  • 150 tickets for $500
