Generals lose close contest to Battlefords

Moose Jaw closes out regular season with pair of games this week

The Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs might not be in the books for the Moose Jaw Generals, but that's not going to stop them from making things interesting in their final few games of the regular season.

Case in point, their 4-3 loss to the Battlefords Stars at Mosaic Place on Sunday afternoon.

Steven Kesslering, Ben Wourms-Rowe and Owen Slugoski scored for Moose Jaw in the close loss, which saw the Generals trailing 2-1 after the first and 3-2 through two. Jaxson Georget added two assists.

Carson Dobson, Brendan Albert, Quinn Strang and Shayde Peterson had goals for Battlefords.

Reece Hodson made 23 saves in the loss, Joseph Young turned aside 29 shots for the Stars.

Moose Jaw was 0-for-5 on the power play, Battlefords went 1-for-3.

The Generals fell to 15-24-2-1 while the Stars improved to 13-26-0-2.

Moose Jaw is back in action Monday when they travel to Saskatoon to face the Contacts in a game rescheduled from Jan. 27. Their final game of the season is Feb. 29 against the Beardy's Blackhawks (7 p.m., Mosaic Place).
