Generals earn big ‘W’ against Saskatoon

The Moose Jaw Generals skated away with a much-needed win in Saskatchewan Midget AAA action on Thursday night. The Generals defeated the Saskatoon Contacts 5-2 at Mosaic Place to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Steve Kesslering opened the scoring for the Generals. The home squad also received two goals apiece from Cody Davis and Evan Sare, the latter of whom scored both shorthanded and on the powerplay. Both of Saskatoon’s goals came off the stick of Karter McNarland.

Goalie Reece Hodson made 46 saves in the win. Cole Johnston stopped 26 of 31 for the Contacts.

With the victory, the Generals are now eight points back of Saskatoon for the final playoff spot.

Moose Jaw’s next game is Saturday, Feb. 2 at Mosaic Place against the Yorkton Maulers. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
