Former Moose Jaw Warriors standout Tanner Jeannot could be only days away from making his National Hockey League regular-season debut with the Nashville Predators.

Jeannot, 23, was called up to the team’s taxi squad — a COVID-19 extended roster system designed to have extra players available during the pandemic -- on Friday afternoon, marking his first opportunity to crack the Predator’s line-up outside of exhibition action.

And it’s for good reason.

Jeannot has got off to an outstanding start this season, first suiting up for the Florida Everblades of the ECHL and putting up three goals and six points in his first five games of the campaign. That led to Jeannot cracking the Chicago Wolves line-up heading into the AHL opener back on Feb. 5, and he hasn’t let up since, scoring three goals and eight points in six games while serving as an assistant captain with the squad.

Jeannot is currently tied for fourth in AHL scoring and is on a five-game point streak that began on Feb. 6 and has included two multi-point efforts, including a season-high three-point performance (three assists) on Feb. 20 against Iowa.

The Wolves are currently undefeated to start the campaign with a 7-0-0-0 record.

Jeannot emerged as one of the Warriors’ heart-and-soul players through his four years with the WHL squad, and his hard-working style paid off in his overage season as Jeannot scored 40 goals and 80 points while taking the ice in all 72 games. He’d emerge as a critical piece of the team’s success as Warriors would go on to win the Scotty Munro Trophy with the best regular-season record in the WHL.

Injuries took their toll in his first go-around in the AHL, as he had seven goals and 11 points in 37 games with the Milwaukee Admirals in 2018-19. Jeannot would split the 2019-20 campaign between Florida, where he had four goals and five points in three games, and Milwaukee, where he put up five goals and 20 points in 57 contests.
