If the Moose Jaw AAA Warriors can always play like they did in the third period against the Regina Pat Canadians on Friday night, odds are they’re going to see far better results than the final score from that contest.

Kirk Mullen had a goal and an assist in the third period as the Warriors attempted to rally from a 5-0 deficit before dropping a 5-3 decision in Regina.

The loss was the first of the season for the Warriors in Sask Male AAA Hockey League action, and saw the local squad fall to 4-1 on the season to sit in second place in the SMAAAHL South, two points back of the Pat Cs.

McKale Paul and Max Wanner scored the Warriors other goals, with their three markers coming in a span of just over six minutes early in the third. Riley Niven added a pair of assists.

Regina led 2-0 after the first and 5-0 through two.

Kael DePape got the start in goal for Moose Jaw and made 29 saves, the Warriors fired 34 shots at Regina’s Drayden Ramage.

Eric Johnston scored twice for the Pat Cs, Kyle Gronick, Brady Birnie and Tate Schofer had their other markers.

The two teams are right back in action Saturday night, with game time at 7:30 p.m. at Mosaic Place. The game is sold out, but fans can follow the game at www.smaaahl.com or catch the replay at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday on the Warriors' Facebook page.
