The Moose Jaw Warriors have picked up right where they left off in Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League action.

The Warriors took to the ice for their first game after the holiday break on Thursday night in Regina against the Pat Canadians, scoring twice in each of the second and third periods to take a 4-2 victory.

The win saw Moose Jaw improve to 18-10-0-1 to sit in fifth place in the 12-team league, four points back of the Saskatoon Blazers and four points up on the Prince Albert Mintos.

As well as things turned out, it wasn’t the best of starts for the local squad, as Casey Brown and WHL Warriors prospect Ben Riche scored for Regina in the first period to give the home side a 2-0 edge

The Warriors responded in the second period, though, with Daxin Peterson doing the honours twice -- pulling the Warriors within one 7:28 into the frame and then tying the contest just under three minutes later. Liam Fitzpatrick drew assists on both goals.

Rowan Calvert then gave the Warriors their first lead of the game with 8:44 to play in the third and added an insurance marker with 16 seconds remaining, capping the comeback victory. Conner Miller assisted on both Calvert markers.

The Warriors turned in a solid defensive showing, holding Regina to only 19 shots total, including seven in the final period as they took control of the game.

That made for a relatively calm night for Ethan Fechter in the Warriors goal, as he picked up his 12th win in 19 starts.

The Warriors’ busy weekend continues as they host the last-place Tisdale Trojans on Saturday at 7 p.m. before taking on the first-place Warman Wildcats on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Both contests are at Mosaic Place.
