You will find lots of fun activities in and around Moose Jaw and area this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.

Christmas Activities at the WDM

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Western Development Museum! First, the WDM will host its Kids’ Secret Shopping event. With the help of volunteers, kids will be able to purchase gifts for their loved ones, with prices anywhere from $1 to $15. Shortwave to Santa will also take place. With help from the Moose Jaw Amateur Radio Club, kids will have an opportunity to speak with Santa! Both of these events will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Finally, Breakfast with Mrs. Claus will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The breakfast is hosted by the Girl Guides. Tickets are $5 each.  

Carniv-Owl Fundraiser

The Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre will present a fun, family event on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Exhibition Grounds. The carnival will include bouncy castles, face painting, games, food, and a silent auction. Tickets are $35 for a family of four or $10 per person. Funds will be used to support the centre and its owls.

Baking Walk

Pick up some tasty treats this weekend at the Baking Walk, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church. Featuring homemade tarts, cookies, squares, candy, etc. Pick what you want and put it in the containers provided. Containers are $5 each. Sponsored by Mizpah #1 Order of the Eastern Star. Please use the Athabasca Street entrance.

Yuletyme Craft and Trade Show

Minto United Church will hold their annual craft and trade show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be lots of vendors, including the UCW. There will be a large baking table. Admission is $2.

Zion Craft Show

Zion United Church will host their annual Christmas/bake sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $2 or a donation of mitts, gloves, hats, and scarves for children at local schools and socks for Riverside Mission. 

Vanier Trade Show

Vanier Collegiate will host their seventh annual trade show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the school. There will be over 55 vendors on site, as well as a children’s corner, penny parade, and a concession. A silver plate donation will be collected at the door, with proceeds donated to Transition House. The event is organized by Vanier students.

Mortlach Trade Show

Drive over to Mortlach this weekend to get some shopping done. Mortlach will host a trade show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the community hall. A lunch will be available for $5. 

William Grayson Trade Show

William Grayson School will hold its fifth annual trade show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the school gymnasium. There will be lots of new and returning vendors. There will also be a penny parade with plenty of great prizes. Admission is free.  

Dungeons and Dragons Meet-Up

The Moose Jaw Gamers Association invites you to attend a D&D session this Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Bring your own Adventure League character or build one. Volunteers will be on hand to assist. This program is for ages 16 and up. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Copies of the Player’s Handbook will be available for reference.

Happy Handmade Christmas Market

Head to Gravelbourg this weekend for the Happy Handmade Christmas Market, presented by the Gravelbourg Artisan Co-operative. The event will run on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the convent. There will be lots of handmade products created by local artisans. There will also be a Christmas-themed photo booth and a children’s play area. Wine and cheese will be served beginning at 5 p.m. Megan Nash will perform at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door.  

MJCP Present Paper Wheat

The Moose Jaw Community Players will present Paper Wheat on Saturday at the Cosmo Centre. The doors open at 6 p.m. Includes a buffet supper. There will be a cash bar. Tickets are $45 for the supper and show and are available at Prairie Bee Meadery. 

Central Collegiate Presents Honk

Get ready for a different take on the traditional Ugly Duckling story. Students from Central Collegiate will present their final performance of Honk on Saturday at Centennial Auditorium (located in Peacock Collegiate). The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through ShowTix4U.

Warriors vs. Calgary

Game on! Your Moose Jaw Warriors will host the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday. The puck drops at Mosaic Place at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the Mosaic Place box office.

Black Sunday 5 Trade Show

Get ready for deals! The Black Sunday 5 trade and craft show will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Inn. There will be lots of vendors on hand and hourly draws for gift bags filled with items from the vendors. 

Grey Cup Viewing Parties

Although the Riders won’t be playing, it is always fun to get together to watch the big game. Three different local organizations will be hosting viewing parties this Sunday. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 59 will host a Grey Cup party beginning at 4 p.m. There will be drink specials and a buffet. Everyone is welcome. The ANAVETS will host their party beginning at 4 p.m. There will be a potluck. Finally, the Moose Jaw & District Seniors will host a viewing party starting at 3:30 p.m. in the Café.
