You will find lots of fun activities in and around Moose Jaw and area this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.

Friends of the Library Used Book Sale

Stock up on your winter reads. Once again, the Friends of the Library will hold their used book this weekend. The sale started on Friday and will continue on Saturday at the Moose Jaw Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be lots of items to choose from!

Westmount School Trade Show

Get some shopping done this weekend at Westmount School’s Christmas Trade Show. The sale will be held at the school on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The trade show acts as a fundraiser for the school’s Generosity Club, so be sure to stop by and support the kids so they, in turn, can help others.

Fafard Foundry Tour

The Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery will present a guided tour of Joe Fafard’s Julienne Atelier Foundry in Pense on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. Funds will help the MJMAG purchase “Peggy,” a large bronze sculpture of a horse created by Fafard. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery. 

Films for Friends

Moose Jaw Families for Change will once again offer its popular Films for Friends series this Saturday. You’re invited to a screening of Dennis the Menace at the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre at 1 p.m. The cost is $5 and includes popcorn. Proceeds will go to the Moose Jaw Newcomer Welcome Centre. 

Architecture in Moose Jaw

Learn more about Moose Jaw’s beloved buildings. Stop by the archives department at the Moose Jaw Public Library on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. for a program on the city’s architecture. There will be photos, files, blueprints, and building permits on display. This is the latest entry in a series of programs looking at the resources available in the archives. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Festival of Trees

A popular annual event returns this weekend. The Festival of Trees will be held on Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. at Mosaic Place. This is a new venue for the event. This year’s theme is ‘Kaleidoscope.’ The night will include a plated supper from celebrity chef Dale McKay (the winner of Top Chef Canada). Proceeds will support the Moose Jaw Health Foundation’s Mammography Matters campaign. Will be followed by the family brunch on Sunday morning. Sister Act

Get ready for a fun night out! Students at Vanier Collegiate will present Sister Act at the Cultural Centre on Saturday. The musical is based on the hit 1992 film. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $18 to $22 and are available through the Cultural Centre box office.  

Farmer’s Market

The Moose Jaw Homegrown Farmer’s Market is heading indoors. There will be several winter markets this year. The next one will be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Timothy Eaton Garden. There will be lots of tasty treats and homemade products available.
