You will find lots of fun activities in Moose Jaw this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.

Train Rides at the WDM

A family favourite returns for another season! This Saturday at the Western Development Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. you can hop on the K+S Potash Canada Short Line 101. It is Saskatchewan’s only operating steam locomotive. Admission is $5 per rider or $15 for families (including two adults). Please note the opening day for the train will depend on the weather. Opening Day at the Burrowing Owl Centre

Get reacquainted with your feathered friends this weekend! The Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre will hold its opening day family barbecue on Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds. Admission is $10 each at the gate while a family pass for five is $35. Admission includes a hotdog and beverage. There will be bouncy castles, face painting, a bubble station and, of course, the owls. 

Cat Café at the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre

Once again, SCRAPS and Moose Jaw Families for Change will team up to present another edition of the popular Cat Café. The event will be held Saturday at the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre (335 Fourth Avenue SW). There will be three sessions: 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. The cost is $5 per person. To register, contact communication@mjffc.com

Transplant Trot

Get out and support a great cause by raising awareness for organ donation! The fifth annual Transplant Trot will be held this Sunday at Sunningdale School. Registration is at 9:30 and the race will begin at 10. This year the Transplant Trot will include a kids’ carnival. There will be a bouncy castle and face painting. Hot dogs will be available. The event includes a 3 km walk, a 5 km walk/run, or a 10 km run. You can still register the day of the event. Proceeds will go to the Canadian Transplant Association.

Clean Up Tatawaw Park

Help clean up the newly christened Tatawaw Park this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate. Garbage bans and gloves will be provided. There will be refreshments. Please bring your own to-go cup. Meet at the bridge at the bottom of Seventh Avenue S.W.

Opening Day for the Canoe and Kayak Club

Get ready to hit the water this weekend! The Moose Jaw Canoe and Kayak Club will hold its opening day on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. in Wakamow Valley, weather permitting. Whether you are a current, past, or prospective member, everyone is encouraged to come out! You could spend the summer paddling along the Moose Jaw River!
