Your guide to the weekend for Dec 7/8

You will find lots of fun activities in and around Moose Jaw and area this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.

Christmas Craft and Trade Show

Sacred Heart will hold its third annual Christmas Craft and Trade Show on Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. There will be lots of vendors, plus a kids’ area so parents can get their shopping done. A concession will be available and there will be a large penny parade. Santa will visit from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again from 1 to 3 p.m. Entry is by donation at the door.

Film Screening at MJPL

The Moose Jaw Public Library will show the 2019 film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the library theatre. There film is offered free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend. The film is rated PG -13.

Warriors vs. Raiders

Game on! Your Moose Jaw Warriors will host the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday. Don't forget to bring a donation for the annual Teddy Bear and Toque Toss. Donations will go to the Salvation Army. The puck drops at Mosaic Place at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the Mosaic Place box office.

Jeffrey Straker Concert

Get out and enjoy some live music this weekend. Singer-songwriter Jeffrey Straker will bring his popular A Very Prairie Christmas show to the Mae Wilson Theatre on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased from the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre box office.  

Peacock Presents Beauty and the Beast

Be our guest! Be sure to take in the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast, live on stage! Peacock Collegiate will present their final performance of the musical on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased online.  

Winter Market 

The Moose Jaw Homegrown Farmer’s Market is heading indoors. There will be several winter markets this year. The next one will be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Timothy Eaton Garden. There will be lots of tasty treats and homemade products available. 

Polar Bear Run

Prepare to get a little frosty for a good cause. Peacock Collegiate will hold its annual Polar Bear Run on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m. at the school. Proceeds will go to the Terry Fox Foundation. This is a family-friendly event. Registration can be done on the day of the run, or online.  

Family Christmas at West Park Crossing

The whole family can come together for a Christmas party this weekend! The event will be held on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at West Park Crossing (1801 Meier Drive). You can get a photo with Santa, enjoy light refreshments, and there will be singing courtesy of Caroling by Capo. Be sure to bring along a donation fro the food bank.

Films for Friends

Moose Jaw Families for Change will once again offer its popular Films for Friends series this Sunday. You’re invited to a screening of the Christmas classic Home Alone at the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre at 1 p.m. The cost is $5 and includes popcorn. Proceeds will go to the Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre. 

Holiday Skate at Mosaic Place

Hit the ice this weekend with free public skating at Mosaic Place. The event will be held on Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. There will even be a special appearance from Santa himself! Please note kids under 12 must wear a helmet while on the ice.

Heritage Singers Concert

Get in the festive spirit at the annual Christmas concert from the Heritage Singers! The concert will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church. Admission is $10 at the door. Refreshments to follow.

Prairie Christmas Concert at Hillcrest Church

The 19th Annual Prairie Christmas Concert will be held on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Church. Vanier Collegiate’s band, concert choir, chamber choir, and jazz band will perform. Featuring an appearance from special guest Justin Hauck. Admission at the door is $10 for adults, $5 for students/seniors, and $25 for families. Funds will support Vanier’s music program.

The Rocket Man and the Piano Man

Do you love the music of Billy Joel? What about Elton John? If you can’t see the real deal live on stage, this is the next best opportunity. You will hear all your favourite tunes during this special tribute show, which will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Cultural Centre. Tickets can be purchased from the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre box office.
