You will find lots of fun activities in and around Moose Jaw and area this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.
Homegrown Farmer’s Market
Shop local at the Homegrown Farmer’s Market this Saturday. As usual, the market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Langdon Crescent. You will find all kinds of tasty treats, homemade items, and fresh produce. Be mindful of restricted access, due to construction.
Tai Chi at the Moose Jaw Public Library
Get ready to relax this weekend. The Moose Jaw Chinese Association and the Moose Jaw Public Library will offer its tai chi program on Saturday at 10 a.m. Please note the program has moved indoors and can be found in the South Meeting Room on the second floor of the library. This is a drop-in program. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Blow Off Some Steam at the WDM
Take an opportunity to discover the role steam has played in the province’s history of transportation. Blow Off Some Steam Day will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Western Development Museum. Focus will be on the museum’s Vulcan locomotive and 75 Case traction engine. Both will be running throughout the day, weather permitting. There will also be a wide variety of activities that will be perfect for families. Regular admission applies.
Regina Folk Festival
Head down the Trans Canada to Regina for the city’s annual Folk Festival in Victoria Park. The fun begins at 11:30 a.m. each day on the three Sunlit Stages. The Children’s Stage starts at noon each day. Performances on the main stage begin at 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. There you will find performers like Ruth B (7:05 p.m. Saturday), Colter Wall (9:35 p.m.), and Jason Isbell (10:55 p.m.), alongside Connie Kaldor (6:40 p.m. on Sunday), Kathleen Edwards (9 p.m.), Blue Rodeo (10:25 p.m.), and more. Tickets can be purchased online.
Bison Fest
This Saturday you can learn more about Tatawaw Park, the area formerly known as the Wild Animal Park, on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. You will have an opportunity to learn about the area and its past inhabitants. There will be information on Red River carts and the historic cart trails, tipis, bead work and pottery making, powwow dancing and Métis jigging, as well as a history of the buffalo. Admission is free. Use the Ninth Ave. SW entrance.
Activities at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park
Head out to Buffalo Pound Provincial Park this weekend for several fun activities. First, on Saturday at 10 a.m. the Survival Series will continue at the Elm View Day Use Area. Learn how to use a compass and GPS to navigate your way!
Next, the Learn to Canoe program will be held on Saturday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Maple Vale Beach. Please note participants under the age of 13 must have a parent or guardian present.
On Sunday you can build a home for the “fairies and gnomes” in the park using natural materials at Pinecone Place from 2 to 3 p.m.
Finally, the Creatures of the Night program will be held at Pinecone Place on Sunday from 8 to 9 p.m. You will have the opportunity to build a light trap that will attract insects.

Garth Brooks at Mosaic Stadium
One of country’s biggest superstars is coming to Regina this weekend. Garth Brooks will play his second of two shows on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium. To check for tickets, visit the Ticketmaster website.
Craft and Trade Show at Wilson Farms
Wilson Farms and the South Central Early Childhood Intervention Program will team up for a great fundraiser this weekend. Visit the farm, located 10 miles west of Moose Jaw on Range Road 283, on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a craft and trade show. There will be lots of vendors, fun activities, tractor rides, and a petting zoo. Admission is $5 per person or $15 for a family of four, with ages two and under free. Proceeds from the event will support both organizations.
