Lt. Almeta Ward with the Salvation Army will be the guest speaker during the next Moose Jaw Women Who Care gathering, with all funds raised supporting the community charity.

The fundraising and awareness event will occur on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel (Church) at 2 Wintergreen Drive, just off Thatcher Drive. There will be tea, coffee and cookies served during the event.

Ward is a pastor at the Citadel and the community and family services officer for the Salvation Army in Moose Jaw and area.

Moose Jaw Women Who Care (MJWWC) is inviting women to attend as individuals or as a team and to “join hearts to learn more about and support the phenomenal work of the Salvation Army in our community.”

The organization’s goal is for individuals — or teams of two to four women — to attend and donate $100, which can provide an immediate and effective benefit to the Moose Jaw Salvation Army’s work with the most vulnerable in the communities it serves.

If there are 100 people, then the group has just raised $10,000 for charity — a significant sum.

For more information or to register, email 100wwcmj@gmail.com. Every registration will be entered for a chance to win a gift basket.

MJWWC meets three times a year; its first two events were Feb. 10 and May 12. The leadership picks a different charity, agency, or other community-based organization (CBO) each time. Representatives from the chosen charity then come to the meeting and talk about what they do and the services they provide.

The funds raised go directly to the benefiting that CBO.
