Winter-like conditions are back.

Environment Canada has issued a blowing snow advisory for Moose Jaw and area.

Blowing snow and extreme winds are expected today. Environment Canada attributes this weather to a strong, low-pressure system with a cold front heading east toward Manitoba.

Winds may reach up to 100 km/h today. A wind warning has been issued.

Flurries are also expected. Here in Moose Jaw, about 2 to 4 cm of accumulation is expected today, with a similar amount possible this evening.

The temperature will drop throughout the day.

Poor visibility combined with blowing snow will impact travel conditions. Before heading out, motorists should check road conditions via the Highway Hotline. Of course, drivers should also be mindful of the travel restrictions already in place affecting Regina and area.

As SaskPower noted in a tweet yesterday, strong winds could damage power lines. To report any outages, call 310-2220. If an outage does occur, you can find updates on SaskPower’s outages page or their Twitter feed.
