Winter GAX kicks off weekend of all things gaming

Hundreds expected to take part in charity event at Moose Jaw Cultural Centre
The 2020 Winter Gaming Expo -- better known as GAX -- is currently underway, and gamers of all stripes will have plenty to see and do during the charity gaming weekend running today through Sunday at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre.

The annual Moose Jaw Gamers Association event opened its doors on Friday evening and will run until 12 a.m., with action resuming at 8 a.m. Saturday and running until 12 a.m. before wrapping up Sunday with sessions from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Players will able to try their hand at a myriad of games, ranging from console Xbox and Playstation games to tabletop miniature wargames to popular and obscure card and board games and everything in between. Basically, if it involves gaming, it's at GAX.

All proceeds from the event will go to supporting the Mighty Munchies school snack program in Moose Jaw.

Tickets are $20 and give you full access to the event, while for $30 players can bring and set up their gaming computer in the LAN room or reserve a seat in the console game room -- two areas that are expected to be wildly popular through the weekend.

Here's a selection of photos from some of the action soon after the doors opened Friday night!
