The season has come to an end for the Moose Jaw Winmar Warriors.

But they didn’t go down without a fight.

The Saskatoon Contacts scored a pair of goals in the third period and would go on to a 3-1 victory in the fifth and deciding game of their Sask Male AAA Hockey League quarter-final series on Saturday afternoon in Saskatoon.

Liam Fitzpatrick scored the lone goal for Moose Jaw, with the league MVP tying the game at the 7:52 mark of the second period, 21 seconds after Ronan Buckberger had given the Contacts the lead.

That would be the only good news for the local squad, though, as Rhett Ewen scored at 9:08 of the final period to restore the Contacts lead and Jace Rask made it a two-goal edge with 6:54 to play.

Ryan Bain had 31 saves in the loss, Logan Edmonstone turned aside 31 shots at the other end of the ice.
