The Moose Jaw Warriors will be facing the Winnipeg Ice in the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

With the Saskatoon Blades taking a 4-1 victory over the Regina Pats in the seventh game of their Eastern Conference quarter-final series on Monday night, the Warriors are now the lowest ranked team from the regular season standings remaining in the post season.

As a result, they face the top remaining team from the regular season, Winnipeg.

The Warriors swept the Lethbridge Hurricanes in their first round series, while the Ice also only needed four games to get past the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The two teams met six times in the regular season, with each team winning three times

It marks the second year in a row that Moose Jaw and Winnipeg will play in the second round, with the Ice taking the series in five games in 2022.

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinal takes place on Friday in Winnipeg, with Game 2 on Saturday at the Wayne Fleming Arena.

The series reverts to Moose Jaw on Tuesday and Wednesday, Apr. 19 before Game 5 in Winnipeg on Apr. 22, Game 6 in Moose Jaw on Apr. 24 and Game 7 in Winnipeg on Apr. 26. The latter three games are all if necessary.
