Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt and his prospective Team Canada teammates will be in quarantine for the next 14 days.
The worst-case scenario has come to pass for the National Junior Team (NJT) at their month-long training camp in Red Deer.

Hockey Canada announced Wednesday that two players had recorded positive tests for COVID-19 and as a result, all players, coaches and staff at the event will now have to quarantine for 14 days due to the ongoing Alberta Health Services order.

Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt and general manager Alan Millar are part of the NJT program, with Hunt one of 46 players vying for a position on the team and Millar working as the manager of the national U-20 program.

“Hockey Canada will continue to abide by all protocols and guidelines set forth by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, as it is not exempt from Order 05-2020, and will put a pause on all camp activities until the quarantine period is complete,” Hockey Canada said in a press release.

The selection camp will sit on hold for two weeks as of Nov. 23, with players going through additional testing before resuming any camp activities.

“We remain in constant communication with the appropriate health authorities, and we appreciate and thank Alberta Health Services for its dedication to ensuring the health and safety of our players, staff and the community at large,” Hockey Canada said.

Alberta is currently in the midst of a massive COVID-19 outbreak, with nearly 14,000 active cases -- 1,265 on Wednesday alone -- and 500 deaths as of Nov, 24.

Saskatchewan, by comparison, reported 164 new cases on Wednesday, and currently has 3,012 active cases. Thirty-seven people have died.
