With the regular season in the books, the Vanier Vikings finally know exactly where they fit in when it comes to the Conference 2 Nine-Aside Football League.

Despite entering the league as an expansion team, the Vikings have emerged as one of the top teams in the six-team loop and thanks to a 58-21 win over the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox on Friday night are off to the playoffs.

Vanier finished with a 3-2 record, good enough for third place in the league and a spot in the semifinal against Shaunavon Shadows in Shaunavon this coming Friday.

The Vikings took a 14-7 lead out of the first half thanks to a pair of touchdowns by Gabe Yasinski, but by the time the halftime came around, Vanier had things in hand.

That’s thanks to four touchdowns over the next quarter, with Teagan Bennett picking up a pair of majors to go along with scores from Yasinki and Janzen Lumey.
Vanier also had a safety in the second quarter, giving the local crew a 44-14 lead at half.

The Vikings dialed things back a bit after the break, with Yasinski scoring his fourth touchdown and Hudson Tallon finishing things off with Vanier’s eighth major in the third quarter.

There was no scoring in the final quarter.

Landen Siroski-Brown, Pherson Loehndors and Russel Newman scored touchdowns for Notre Dame.
