Two-vehicle collision shuts northbound lane on Ninth Avenue NW

Officers responded to the incident at the corner of Athabasca Street and Ninth Avenue Northwest around 4:56 p.m. on Sept. 7.

Moose Jaw police temporarily closed one lane of Ninth Avenue Northwest on Sept. 7 following a two-vehicle collision.

Officers responded to the incident at the corner of Athabasca Street and Ninth Avenue Northwest around 4:56 p.m., which involved a white four-door Honda SUV and a white four-door Pontiac. The front bumper of the Honda was completely torn off, while the Pontiac’s nose was crumpled.

Police closed the northbound lane and re-directed traffic as a tow truck driver removed the vehicles. The southbound lane was unaffected, although motorists were forced to drive slowly.

No one in either vehicle was injured, although both vehicles were considered totalled and write-offs. Police also issued a ticket to one of the drivers.

According to a nearby homeowner, it’s likely that one of the vehicles was driving west on Athabasca Street and stuck its nose too far into oncoming traffic on Ninth Avenue Northwest. That is likely when a northbound vehicle hit it.

Police had no other information about the incident.
