The scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Fairford Street West on the afternoon of June 20.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 20, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Fairford Street West between Kal Tire and Home Hardware.

The collision appears to be the result of one vehicle failing to stop at a marked stop sign, although this has not yet been confirmed with the Moose Jaw Police Service.

At least one eyewitness was willing to state that they've previously seen vehicles roll through the stop sign at the same intersection — and at a few other intersections around town — with some drivers appearing to make no effort to slow down.

This afternoon's traffic accident serves as a stark reminder for motorists to pay close attention to posted road signs and to exercise caution when approaching intersections, especially in reduced visibility circumstances, including bright sunlight that may render road hazards or signage harder to spot.

Nobody appeared to have been severely injured by the accident and the intersection is now open to traffic with no further delays anticipated.
