Twenty-one residents named to 10 city advisory boards

City council officially named 21 residents to 10 advisory boards and committees during its recent regular meeting.

Council initially approved a recommendation during its Nov. 14 executive committee meeting to nominate the nearly two dozen residents to the boards and committees, while it officially confirmed their appointments after approving the executive committee minutes during its Dec. 12 regular meeting.

Cultural diversity advisory committee

Dalise Hector and Babajide Kassim (as alternate) with Prairie Skies Integration Network, Darrell Hawman with New Southern Plains Metis Local 160, Obeyaa Ampofo-Hunstad and Walter Gobina (citizens-at-large) have been appointed to the cultural diversity advisory committee starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Heritage advisory committee

Stella Richards, citizen-at-large, has been appointed to the heritage advisory committee starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Parks and recreation

Brad Moser, Jan Franken and Steven White, citizens-at-large, have been named to the parks, recreation and facilities advisory committee starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Public art committee

Mary Rafferty, citizen-at-large, has been appointed to the public art committee starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Public works

Donna MacQuarrie-Bye and Janessa Lima (as alternate) with Wakamow Valley Authority have been named to the public works, infrastructure and environment advisory committee starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Special needs advisory committee

Erin Hidlebaugh and Ron Smallwood have been appointed to the special needs advisory committee starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Public library

Teri Bourdages, Sarah Simison and Jaimie Atkins, citizens-at-large, have been named to the public library board starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Regional library

Jaimie Atkins, citizen-at-large, has been appointed to the Palliser Regional Library board starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Wakamow Valley Authority

Steven White, citizen-at-large, has been appointed to the Wakamow Valley Authority board starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Police board

Mary Lee Booth and Darrell Markin have been named to the Board of Police Commissioners starting Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2024, or until a successor is appointed.

Moose Jaw Warriors

Also during the meeting, council approved a lease agreement between the City of Moose Jaw and WHL Moose Jaw Warriors for the use of certain portions of the Events Centre. It also authorized the mayor and city clerk to sign the document on behalf of the municipality.

The next regular council meeting is Monday, Jan. 9, 2023.
