Transformative experience: Work continues as Mosaic Place prepares for Scotties

Ice sheets set, flooring going in as crews get arena ready for women’s national curling championship
When legendary Canadian icemaker Dave Merklinger said on Sunday afternoon that the then-pristine sheet of white ice at Mosaic Place would be all but unrecognizable as a hockey rink by Monday night, he wasn’t kidding.

Work has progressed at a rapid pace since then, with the four-sheet playing surface designed and laid out, with heavy flooding beginning on Monday morning. Flooring was also being installed surrounding the sheets and work was beginning in earnest on the HeartStop Lounge in the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.

The plan is to have the ice in place and finished in time for when crews from TSN arrive to begin their production set-up on Tuesday.

Be sure to check back for more as Moose Jaw prepares to host the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
