MOOSE JAW — Tourism Moose Jaw is inviting residents to ride, support, and shop local at its first-ever Ladies Shopping Night, set to take place Friday, June 13, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The event is designed as a fun, come-and-go evening for shoppers, featuring exclusive in-store promotions, free samples, prize giveaways, and courtesy trolley transportation between participating businesses.
“We’re partnering with some local businesses, and each of them is going to be offering something special and something slightly different,” said Everly Reid with Tourism Moose Jaw. “So for example, we’re offering samples of some of our products, like our hot sauce and our jam. Some places are doing free gifts … (for example), Pharmasave is offering a free gift bag. Some places are offering discounts.”
For only $20, each ticket covers a courtesy trolley ride to participating business locations and includes access to all affiliated promotions along the route. The trolley is scheduled to stop at each location at least three times each hour for convenience.
“The trolley will be driving around from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in a route between all the participating businesses…,” Reid explained. “People can get on and off the trolley if they want, or they can ride on the trolley for a little bit… It’s a come-and-go thing.”
Shoppers can begin their evening at any participating business location, though starting at the Tourism Moose Jaw kiosk offers the added benefit of free parking.
Casino Moose Jaw is offering $10 in free play to participants, in addition to the various free samples and giveaways available throughout the event. Tickets also enter participants into a draw for an exclusive $200 gift basket.
The event, which Tourism Moose Jaw hopes to continue in future years, also serves as a fundraiser to help support operations for the downtown trolley program.
“We’re always just trying to get as many people out as we can and raise a little bit of money for the trolley, and then we always want people to experience what local businesses have to offer,” Reid said. “We’ve got some really awesome businesses participating, and we’re hoping that people will maybe go into a store they’ve never been into before … and see the awesome stuff they have to offer.”
The name might suggest otherwise, but everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
“We are calling it a Ladies Shopping Night, and lots of the businesses are probably more popular with women … but we definitely encourage anyone who wants to buy tickets to buy tickets and to attend. It’s definitely not just for ladies,” she confirmed.
Tickets can be purchased in person at the Tourism Moose Jaw Visitor Centre at 450 Diefenbaker Dr. or over the phone at 306-693-8097. Sales will remain open throughout the event.
“We look forward to having the ladies out, and we hope that you enjoy it,” said Reid. “We can’t wait for it.”
