UPDATED: GoFundMe donations pour in for Bzdel family after house fire

More than $15,000 raised for family since Saturday

The Moose Jaw community has rallied around the family of Cory and Shauna Bzdel in impressive fashion after they lost their home to a fire on Friday evening.

No family members were home at the time of the blaze, but all was lost including the family’s pets.

A GoFundMe account created by Krista McKenna has taken off quickly, raising $9,685 of a $10,000 goal in only three days since its creation.

McKenna said in an update on Monday that "Corey, Shauna and the boys are doing ok, are thankful for each other at this time and very grateful for all the love and support they are getting from their family, friends and the community. Thank you!!"

Another GoFundMe created by Chris Jackman saw 59 donations totaling $5,090 of a $5,000 goal in a little over a day.

“You don’t know how tragic something like this is until you see it with your own two eyes,” Jackman said in the GoFundMe appeal. “Let’s build love and show support, every little bit adds up and they’ll appreciate any donation you can do big or small.”

Both accounts continue to accept donations.
