Toilers senior girls volleyball tournament underway

Top teams from throughout province taking part in 16-team event

The Peacock Toilers senior girls volleyball tournament is currently underway at high schools throughout Moose Jaw, with some of the top teams in the province taking part.

The Toilers won their opening contest in two games over Gravelbourg and were back on the court at 3 p.m. against Raymore before closing out the first round robin against Yorkton at 6 p.m.

The Central Cyclones opened their round robin against Regina Johnson and will take on Oxbow at 3 p.m, followed by Kipling at 6 p.m. All Cyclones first-round games are at Central.

The Moose Jaw league-leading Vanier Spirits took on Warman in their first contest before facing Saskatoon powerhouse Bishop J. Mahoney at 3 p.m. and Fort Qu’Appelle’s Bert Fox at 6 p.m.. The Spirits’ round robin games are all at Vanier.

Also taking the court are Regina Riffel, Lumsden, Carlyle and Wakaw at Peacock.

Teams will be re-pooled after the 6 p.m. games, with the first games of the second round robin beginning at 7:15 p.m. Friday before returning to the court at 9 a.m. Saturday and running throughout the day until the tournament final at 7 p.m.
