When you have as many quality teams as the Original 16 Cash League has battling it out each week, putting together an undefeated season is going to be a tough call.

Ben Gamble and his KMS rink became the last unbeaten team to fall on Wednesday at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre, as he dropped to 7-1 on the season after a 6-3 loss to Tax Team’s Murray Stroeder.

Gamble carried a 3-2 lead out of the fifth end but wouldn’t score another point, as Stroeder scored two in the sixth and stole points the next two ends to secure the win.

The victory was just as important for Tax Team, as they improved to 8-1 and moved into a tie for first place with BTN Chartered Accountants.

It was business as usual for Danielle Sicinski’s foursome as they took on Paws N' Play (David Gray, 3-5), scoring four in the first end and adding another four in the third on their way to an 8-1 win.

Seaborn Insurance (Joel Jordison, 6-1) kept pace with the leaders after emerging victorious out of a battle with Easy Care Living (Lorraine Arguin, 3-6). That contest saw Jordison leading 4-2 after four ends, but a deuce for Arguin in the fifth tied things 4-4. Jordison took control from there, scoring a pair with the hammer and stealing another in the seventh before running Arguin out of rocks for a 7-4 win.

Ackerman Ag (Patrick Ackerman, 2-5) kept Kal Tire (Bob Desjarlais, 6-3) from joining the seven-win club with a win in one of the closest contests of the night. An early 4-1 lead for Ackerman after three ends was all tied up through five, and the two teams exchanged single points the next two ends. Ackerman would put the hammer to perfect use in the final frame, scoring one for the 6-5 win.

Main Street Strength and Conditioning (Jazmin Ackerman, 1-8) picked up their first victory, but had to stave off a hard comeback by Walchuk Masonary (Ralph Courtnage, 2-6) to do so. Ackerman picked up two in the second and then added steals of two in the third and fourth to go up 6-1. Courtnage would score points over the next three ends, tying things 6-6 through seven. Ackerman got back on the board when it counted, though, with one in the eighth to secure the 7-6 win.

EMJ Marketing (Joe Gunnis, 4-5) were another team that played comeback curling on Wednesday, overcoming a 4-2 deficit to Pro-Tec Electric (Stan Barnsley, 5-3) with two in the fifth and steals the next two ends for the 7-4 win.

Things weren’t quite as close in the other contests on the night, as John’s Music (Ryan Wenarchuk, 5-3) scored points in four straight ends, including three in the first and fourth, to take an 8-0 win over Forged 365 (Donna Ackerman).

Kelsey Noyes (0-8) got off to a quick start against Matt Froehlich (4-5) but would also give up three consecutive steals – two in the third, three in the fourth and three in the fifth -- to drop a 9-1 decision.

Original 16 Cash League action continues every Wednesday at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.
