Earlier this afternoon, family members of the late Lyle Helland gathered for a special tribute.
The ball diamond at Memorial Field is now officially known as Lyle Helland Ball Diamond; a special sign showing off the new name was unveiled today.
It is a fitting tribute, as Lyle worked tirelessly to maintain Memorial Field for 27 years.
“As everyone knowns, Memorial Field was our gathering place. Grandpa loved it here,” said granddaughter Ashley Florent, adressing the crowd prior to the unveiling.
Afterwards, the family gathered on the field for a quick game.
