Farmers are not done seeding just yet.

Spring seeding continues in some areas of the province, with 99 per cent of this year’s crop now planted. That is up from 98 per cent last week.

Although most regions of the province received rain last week, more is needed.

Strong winds delayed spraying and also contributed to some crop damage.

Topsoil moisture conditions remain essentially unchanged. Cropland topsoil moisture is rated as two per cent surplus, 70 per cent adequate, 25 per cent short, and three per cent very short.

Hay and pasture land topsoil moisture is rated as two per cent surplus, 58 per cent adequate, 32 per cent short, and eight per cent very short.

Provincially, 79 per cent of fall cereals, 70 per cent of spring cereals, 63 per cent of oilseed crops, and 80 per cent of pulse crops are at normal development for this time of year.

The majority of crop conditions across the province range from fair to good.  Rainfall may help conditions improve.
